Becoming Your Poem: A Performance Poetry Workshop

This two hour workshop will include in-depth instruction on performance poetry techniques including:

- enhancing your writing for performance

- embodying your poem

- determining the perfect gestures

- when to do what poem

- personalizing your performance

- how not to be nervous on stage

Please note: Class participants may be asked to recite aloud. Feedback is the best way to becoming a great performance poet. If you do not want to share please inform your instructor prior to class via email at [email protected].

Instructor Bio:

Canden was born in Los Angeles, Ca. The Howard University graduate has been performing poetry for the last 8 years. She is a two-time 3rd place winner of Busboys and Poets 11th Hour Slam, is the long-time featured poet of the widespread sexual purity organization, I Am Worth the Wait Revolution, and has performed  with notable Christian organizations such as P4CM and True Voices, a poetry ministry headquartered in NYC where she is presently, Director of the DC Chapter. Her message is one of an uncompromising life in Christ that is not dull as some might think but fulfilling, creative, and fun. 
 

 

Restrictions

Workshop participants must be at least 15 years old. Registration of minors must be completed by an adult at least 21 years or older.
